Dan Boggan
Dan Boggan lends his significant community, management, athletics, and academic administration experience to The Open Doors Foundation Advisory Board, including nearly a decade of service for the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). For the past eight years, Mr. Borgan has served as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the NCAA, responsible for directing operations of the nation?s intercollegiate athletic system.
Prior to the NCAA, Mr. Boggan served as Vice-Chancellor for Business and Administration at the University of California-Berkeley. From 1970 to 1986, Mr. Boggan served several ethics and two counties as a senior manager; assistant city manager in Jackson, Michigan, deputy city manager and city manager in Flint, Michigan, director of management services in Portland, Oregon; assistant chief administrative officer in San Diego County, California; county administrator in Essex County, New Jersey; and city manager in Berkeley, California.
Mr. Boggan graduated from Albion College in 1967 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and sociology and a Master?s in social work in 1968 from the University of Michigan.
Mr. Borggan has served on various local boards throughout his career. Currently he is chair of East Oakland Youth Development Foundation Board (EOYDF), the National Writing Project (NWP) board of directors, and the National Youth Sports Corporation (NYSC). He also serves on a number of non-profit boards. He was one of the founders of and life-time member of the National Forum for Black Public Administrators (NPBPA) and its president from 1990 to 1991.
Mr. Boggan was selected as the Outstanding Public Administrator for the NFBPA in 1987. He also received an honorary doctorate of public service degree from Albion College in 1995 and Mr. Boggan also serves on the board of directors of AdminiSTAR Federal, the Cloros Company and Payless Shoesource, Inc.
